In honour of United Nations’ Day
Architecture may be defined as the epitome of life lived – the cultural and historical heritage of a nation. It often reflects the lifestyle, work and how the homes are decorated, and gives a sense of cohesion and identity in our everyday lives.
Architecture gives us not only the identity, the aesthetic dimension and the artistic angle, but also the possibilities for physical activity within a framework. Living and having an abode, whether it be the simplest cabin or the most luxurious accommodation, are fundamental needs for all human beings. It has been the subject of thoughts on design, functionality and aesthetic expression, with differences depending upon culture and time.
When the topic “MODERN TRENDS IN NATIONAL ARCHITECTURE” was chosen, it was with the idea that this particular exhibition would provide an opportunity to show the diversity and uniqueness in architectural forms, of individual nations. The enthusiastic response from the Embassies has been very inspiring, contributing greatly towards the realization of KUKS idea. Their spontaneous interest in KUKS initiatives, confirms the excellent cooperation which exists between KUKS, the various bi-lateral Societies and the Embassies.
His Royal Highness THE PRINCE CONSORT, Patron of the Exhibition, has encouraged both the Committee and the Exhibitors.
